Process for the recovery of fat and oil from waste water containing fat and oil.
 EMI1.1
So far this has been done in such a way that one has sulfur, or hydrochloric acid or also dissolved acid
Add salts to the wastewater with thorough mixing until an acidic reaction. Apart from the fact that the alkalinity of the wastewater is never constant, this process is time consuming. it also forces the waste water to accumulate in containers for the purpose of processing a larger quantity.

In addition to the fats and oils in solution, the tanner also contains solid components, namely a considerable amount of wool fibers.

According to the present invention, the oils and fats can be recovered in a continuous, uninterrupted working process with extremely simple means and without the expenditure of significant costs. This is achieved essentially by the fact that the wastewater trickles over solid acidification bodies in one operation and in a continuous flow and does not come to rest. at once a number of filter boxes or filter bags flows through, in which the sludge masses containing the oil and fat remain.

The acidification is best done with bisulfate, namely sodium bisulfate, which is known to be available in unlimited quantities at hardly any noteworthy cost and is excellently suited for acidifying the tanner.

The bisulfate, which can lie on a screen, is also covered according to the invention by a close-meshed screen, so that the tanner has its solid components before it reaches the bisulfate. namely wool fibers, on the upper sieve.

The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, namely: FIG. 1 shows a vertical section through the entire system,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig, J, partially in section, while
 EMI1.2

The tannin or other waste water containing oil and fat flows through line a. in the direction of the arrow into a chamber c, which is closed by a sieve g below. The solid components, namely wool fibers, remain on this sieve, while the tanner continues his way in the direction of the arrow through a nozzle h. A jacket d encloses the chamber c and a second, deeper chamber in which biscuit pieces k are present.

A sieve i is provided over the bisulfate and the bisulfate also rests on a sieve bottom 1. The tanner arrives now. Flowing further in the direction of the arrow, into a chamber e (FIGS. i and 2), into which the connecting pieces m open. With the slides n open, the tanner now flows into a number of vertically suspended filter bags f, which are combined to form a battery by pipe sockets o.

The sliders n and p can be used to give the gerher a different path through the filter bags.

When the system is put into operation, all slides are open. so that the tanner, after being acidified by the bisulphate, first of all into the two

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

opposite filter bags f of the two filter rows flows in. It is even better if you force the acidified backwater to flow through the sacks one after the other by setting the slider accordingly. Are the sacks full. then the tanner flows through the two nozzles o into the next two sacks f u. s. f. until it has filled all the filter bags.

The tanner, freed of sludge, fat and oil, flows out of all the sacks as fairly pure water at the bottom of the chamber containing the sacks and is discharged through line b into the sewer or the like.

The sacks gradually fill up with sludge, which contains the oils and fats, and as soon as a sufficient amount has accumulated in the sacks, one row of sacks can be switched off using the sliders, after which the tanner only makes his way through the other row of sacks . It is then possible to remove the joined sacks without interrupting the operation and to extract the oils and fats from the sludge in any suitable way.

The filter bags have proven to be particularly useful in the present case
 EMI2.1
For the present purpose, the filter cloths are smeared in a short time and when driven through under pressure the filtrate comes off in an oil and fat-containing manner. Against this have attempts
 EMI2.2
Separate waste water completely from the oily and greasy waste with the help of hanging, close-meshed bags.
 EMI2.3
Filter press and that as a result of the much lower flow in the liquid interspersed with the excretions in the bag filter as it were in an impermeable container

 oily residues the Sa.

If emptied by turning it inside out, only the bottom of the sack shows a more firmly adhering coating of the oily residue, while the side walls are only very slightly covered with it, and the everted sacks have exactly the same rapid filtration capacity, i.e. H. Permeability, like an unused sack, which would not be possible if the oil-containing ones. greasy excretions would adhere firmly to the outer walls of the sack.
