Process for washing cloths whose raw materials or yarns have been melted with mineral oil.
The cloths, the yarns of which have been melted with mineral oil, have so far caused such great difficulties when washing that for this reason the use of the relatively cheap and obtainable mineral oil has been avoided. Even with the use of good soap, it is only possible to completely remove the mineral oil from the cloth with great effort and care.
These difficulties are noticeable at present all the more unpleasant because on the one hand the lack of oil forces the use of mineral oil during melting and on the other hand there is also a lack of soap. Saponin is known as a soap substitute, which can exert the effect of soap to a certain extent. It has now been found that a washing process using saponin can be applied to those containing mineral oil
EMI1.1
first thoroughly soaked with an alkaline saponin solution, and after a saponin mineral oil emulsion has been formed to a certain extent, about 1/2 to 1 l of an alcoholic whale oil containing about 15% fat is added per piece and then washed out as usual.
In this way, the mineral oil is completely removed without any special effort. This process thus creates the possibility of using mineral oil to the greatest possible extent to melt the yarn and still achieve a clean washed cloth.
