Description

Helmet shield plate for steel helmets.

The subject matter of the present invention is a helmet reinforcement which is intended to protect the wearer of the helmet against rifle or shrapnel fire. Providing military headgear with a removable protective shield is known per se.

In order to achieve the greatest possible weight savings, according to the invention, without impairing the protection of the dangerous head end, the reinforcement is only designed as a forehead shield with lateral extensions protecting the temples and is conveniently bent upwards at its rear edge, thereby deflecting the projectiles from the back of the head of the projectile hitting the daring real plane Helmeted effect.

In order to achieve quick and easy attachment of the shield to the helmet, according to the invention the reinforcement is provided with slots which grip over pins located on the helmet in the manner of bayonet locks. A back and forth movement of the shield placed on the helmet when it is worn is only avoided by the fact that the reinforcement is expediently also to be provided with straps, by means of which it can be placed on the helmet
 EMI1.1
for helmets of different head sizes. This advantage is achieved according to the invention by designing the pins for supporting the face shields as spacer bolts.

The pins can expediently also be provided with bores in their longitudinal axis for the formation of air channels, so that ventilation of the head is easier for the wearer.

In the drawing, as an embodiment of the invention, a steel helmet a is shown with an attached forehead shield b, c denotes the head, d the neck protection and e the eye shield of the helmet. The front shield b is adapted to the head shape of the helmet and has the shape of a spherical cap. A pin f is provided on each side of the helmet.

A slot g provided in the forehead shield b engages over each of these, so that a type of bayonet lock is thereby formed which allows the forehead shield to be quickly placed on the helmet. The front shield b is provided with straps i, by means of which the shield can be strapped onto the helmet after it has been placed on the helmet in such a way that the shield is not only on the two pins /, but also at a third point, e.g. B. h, rests firmly. This prevents the shield from moving back and forth when wearing the helmet.

With lu a second helmet is indicated with dotted lines, which is smaller than the helmet a. The pegs l attached to the helmet k correspond to the pegs. f of the helmet a.

These pins are now designed as spacer bolts, so that only one size of faceplate is required for helmets of different sizes. The pins f and l are also each provided with a through hole in the longitudinal axis, which serve as air ducts for head ventilation.
