Fig. i zeigt ein in Form eines Binokels gehaltenes Beobachtungs- instrument.

Aids for observing stereoscopic cinematographic images projected onto the screen
Photographs.

The subject of the invention is a device which is used to observe stereoscopic films and which offers the viewer a living image with full illusion of depth.

Fig. I shows an observation instrument held in the form of a binocular.

One of the visual tubes is empty, the second is provided with two prisms, one of which is Pi fixed, the second P2 can be moved around point D within narrow limits. The purpose of this device is to convey stereoscopic light images projected onto the screen to the eye in such a way that the left eye alone is supplied with the corresponding left image and the second image alone is supplied to the right eye. The separation of individual images is primarily done by setting the adjustable prism.

The delimitation of the light rays of individual light images is also carried out. Correspondingly dimensioned viewing openings ö as well as supported by a correspondingly wide, unexposed strip separating the two images to make it easier to find the individual images.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the rays incident at an acute angle from individual images are refracted by the mirror surface P2 and transmitted to the eyes as parallel rays.

The use of simple mirror surfaces is sufficient for the construction of the binoculars.

By supplying each individual stereoscopic image to the corresponding eye in such a way that one image is viewed through the empty periscope and the second via prism P, the images appear to the viewer spatially and, since they are projected in rapid succession, at the same time alive .
