Breathing apparatus for the use of liquid air.
The subject of the present invention is a breathing apparatus with closed air circuits using liquid air, which differs from the apparatuses known in this field in that the liquid air bound by a large area forming, absorbable material serves as a cold filter for the exhaled air, so to speak that the carbonic acid of the exhaled air is deposited in the form of snow and the moisture content in the form of ice crystals.
Breathing devices which are operated with liquid air and have a closed air circuit with regeneration of the breathing air by using the known potash cartridges are known per se. In these devices, the purified air mixes with the freshly gassed air in order to flow back to the lungs together with it.
However, the use of the chemical cartridge brings with it various inconveniences, for example the secretion of corrosive liquid and the generation of heat during the chemical reaction. There are also the costs of the chemical cartridges,

be replaced by a new one.
According to the invention, the device is simplified by eliminating the chemical bond between the carbonic acid and the moisture in the exhaled air, in that the carbonic acid and the moisture in the exhaled air are rendered harmless in a purely physical way without any chemicals. with which a considerable progress in health technology is given.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in a longitudinal section, for example.
The vaporized air is, as usual, conducted through a flexible line c into the rescuer's mouth, while the exhaled air is returned to the backpack through a second line f, namely at its lowest point. Since the liquid air in the interior of the knapsack is not freely available, but rather is bound to the extent that it is ejected by an absorbable organic body, for which u. a.
Diatomaceous earth is suitable, so the used air then rises, due to its flow energy, through the pores and crevices of the said absorbent material, which is saturated with liquid air, is exposed in this way to the strong cold effect of the liquid air and therefore becomes its carbonic acid content Form of carbonic acid snow, which can be distributed over the large area of the absorbent material without the risk of clogging, and in the same sense lose its moisture content in the form of ice crystals. The exhaled air, purified in this way without chemicals, ie purely physically, then mixes again with the freshly evaporating air and flows again in a closed circuit to the wearer of the breathing device.
