Description

PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i.

Process for the production of tungsten incandescent lamps.
Various means are known for reducing the atomization of the tungsten filament or for lightening the result of the atomization, the dark fogging.
This includes B. the introduction of halogen-generating substances that have a vapor pressure that is practically not always measurable but not negligible; so that there is an atmosphere containing halogen in the lamps.
Another way is to apply halogen compounds, which do not have any vapor pressure that can be considered at low temperature, in a suitable manner on the luminous element before or after it is laid on the support frame, in the thinnest layers, and to make them evaporate, e.g. B. table salt, cryolite and. Like. Calcium fluoride and other water-insoluble substances have also been suggested for the same purpose.
A further improvement is achieved when borates are used in accordance with the invention. Of the borates, potassium borate in particular has proven to be particularly good.
It is conveniently applied in a mixture with small amounts of amorphous phosphorus by adding a suspension of amorphous phosphorus in the borate solution e.g. B. is dusted on the support frame provided with the filament. Then, after the latter has melted, the lamp is vented in the usual way while heating the bell, without the luminous element being heated at the same time by the current sent through it. Electricity is only passed through after the lamp has melted, and the borate and phosphorus evaporate.
PATENT CLAIMS: i. Process for the production of tungsten incandescent lamps, characterized in that borates are applied to the luminous element or also to the support frame.
