Air supply for internal combustion engines., There are already known air supplies for internal combustion engines in which
EMI1.1
this device is designed in such a way that rapid and precise adjustment and complete closure of the additional air is possible, and that the additional air quantity can be changed gradually. This device is also intended to be used to brake the machine, in that only air is fed through this device to the machine after the fuel mixture has been switched off, the compression of which has a braking effect on the machine.
The subject of the invention is shown in the drawing in an exemplary embodiment, namely: FIG. 1 shows part of the device, partly in side view, partly in section; FIG. 2 shows a plan view of FIG. I, partly in section, and FIG. 3 shows the device arranged on a vehicle engine in a schematic representation.
1 is a valve housing whose wall 2 is turned off conically on the outside. The valve housing is provided with the support 3 and has inside the web 4 into which the head screw i5 is screwed. These. carries the valve disk 6 and the adjusting lever 7 and is tightened so tightly that none of the three parts can rotate relative to the other. The valve disk 6 closes the inside of the valve housing 1 from the outside when it rests on the cutting edge 9 of the valve housing 1. It is provided with cylindrically arranged tabs 11, which press resiliently against the wall 2 and thus prevent unintentional adjustment of the valve disk.
On the surface of the Venti! Partly, marks are provided, denoted by 0 to 10, the mark denoted by 0 denoting the position in which the valve is closed. The pin 13 with the counter mark 14 is provided on the fastening part 3.
The valve housing 1 is fastened to the engine hood 15 (FIG. 3) of the car by means of support 3; a flexible pipe section 16 leads to the pipe 17, which leads through the branch lines 20 into the suction lines 18 shortly before their entry into the machine cylinder.
Should the air supply described be for the purpose of saving fuel
Find use, the screw 5 is rotated by means of the adjusting lever 7 so that the
Valve disk 6 lifts off its seat and fresh air through the valve, pipe section 16.
Pipe section 17 and branch lines 20 enters the supply pipes 18 and with the
Mixes fuel mixture. The fact that not only the fuel mixture is sucked in from the carburetor while the working piston is sucked in, but also fresh air in the above-mentioned way, is achieved that the air flow through the carburetor is changed, thus also the removal of the fuel from the fuel nozzle. You can do it for you
Read off the correct fuel position of the valve disk 6 at the counter mark 14 and adjust it again immediately later.
If the air supply described is to be used for braking purposes, after the fuel mixture supply line has been switched off, the passage cross section of the valve 6 is set to approximately the maximum dimension. As a result, only fresh air is sucked in by the machine and braking effect is achieved through its compression, so that z. B. in the case of machines built into vehicles, the vehicle driving downhill by regulating the amount to be compressed
Air can be braked more or less.
