Description

Einrichtung zur Krankenbehandlung mittels Lichtstrahlen.
EMI1.1

Device for treating patients by means of light beams.
EMI1.1
It comes close to its quality and is therefore much better suited to replace the natural sunlit in the treatment of sick people than the known means. Of these, the electric carbon filament incandescent lamps emit the light rays belonging to the visible part of the spectrum in sufficient strength, but far too little ultraviolet radiation. In the case of mercury vapor lamps, on the other hand, the proportion of ultraviolet radiation comes to the fore in such a way that, even if they are used in covers, which are used for the very short-wave rays not contained in sunlight and undesirable for patient treatment (from less than 280 millimicron wavelength) are opaque, do not represent an image of solar radiation.
A spectrum that is far more similar to solar radiation can be produced with electric metal filament light bulbs, but these also deliver the extremely short-wave radiation components that are not found in sunlight, in addition to those required for treating patients. According to the invention, therefore, electric metal filament incandescent lamps are used as a filter that keeps out the particularly short-wave rays which are below the order of magnitude of 280 millimicrons in terms of their wavelength, but the ultraviolet filter which exceeds this order of magnitude of the wavelength and allows the visible radiation to pass through, appropriately in the manner known per se for light sources in the form of the wall of the container surrounding the metal thread.
A suitable material for this filter is, for example, the type of glass known under the name Uviolglas, which has only been used in mercury vapor lamps until now and is a type that only allows rays down to 280 millimicrons to pass.
