Trough-like terminal plate for terminations or the like of low-voltage lines.

The invention relates to a trough-shaped terminal plate intended for terminations or similar apparatus for low-voltage lines, which is filled with oil of a lower specific weight than that of water in order to achieve a high surface insulation.

The previously known trough-like terminal plates with oil insulation for terminations or the like of low-voltage lines consist either of a metal trough, the perforated bottom of which is closed by an insulating plate carrying the terminals, or of a trough made entirely of insulating material, in the bottom of which the terminals are inserted.

In the first embodiment, it is difficult to keep the joints between the metal and the insulating material completely oil-tight. A satisfactory result could so far only be achieved in those cases in which the bottom opening of the cast metal, z. B. cast iron, existing trough completed by insulating material of carefully selected quality for the special purpose after the pressing process and a very tight connection of the insulation material with the rough surface of the metal is achieved. In this case, however, one is to a large extent dependent on the quality of the insulating material and careful manufacture of the pressed body, because otherwise the joints easily become leaky.

In order not to be so dependent on the quality of the insulation material and the care in the manufacture of the terminal plates, one has already switched to the second of the above-mentioned embodiments, in which the trough is made from a single piece of insulation material, expediently after the pressing process, is made. Such designs are completely oil-tight, but require very large wall thicknesses so that the trough has the required strength. If the strength of the trough is too low, since it has to be screwed tightly to the mounting wall with the interposition of one direction and therefore tensions can occur in it, after a shorter or longer time it can easily get a crack through which the oil can flow away.

Troughs with large dimensions for a large number of terminals require particularly large wall thicknesses and accordingly a very large consumption of insulating material. In addition, greater wall thicknesses require more space, which is significant because such terminal plates are mostly used in multiple arrangements.

In order to avoid the above-mentioned inconveniences, a trough-like insulating body carrying the terminals is connected to a metallic stiffening body according to the invention. With this arrangement, it is impossible for oil to drain off through joints that have become leaky and, on the other hand, the formation of cracks and cracks in the insulating body, through which 01 could also escape, is prevented. A cast iron trough is expediently used as the stiffening body, in which the insulating body carrying the terminals is arranged in such a way that the inner surfaces of the cast iron trough are covered with a coherent layer of insulating material up to the height of the normal oil level.

In the drawing, the invention is illustrated in one embodiment.

Figure i is a cross-section through the terminal board.

Fig. 2 illustrates part of the terminal board in plan.

In the bottom a of a trough b made of hard rubber or the like, the clamps or other connecting parts c are inserted. On the bottom a, upwardly directed, tubular extensions d surrounding the clamps c are provided, by means of which the rainwater is kept away from the clamps c. The trough b forms the inner lining of a second trough e, which serves as a stiffening chamber and is made of cast iron or other metal and has a bottom opening f. The insulating compound a, b, d is rigidly connected to the metal trough e by a pressing process. De: edge of the floor opening. f of the metal trough e engages in the bottom part a det insulating compound.

The trough b is only filled with oil to such an extent that the upper ends of the casings d still protrude above the oil level. The inner surfaces of the cast iron trough e are clad so high with the insulating compound forming the inner trough b that the oil cannot reach the joints between the two troughs b and e.

The sheaths d can be omitted if, for example, the entire middle part of the base a, which is penetrated by the clamps c, is placed higher than the base parts adjoining the side walls of the trough b, whereby a channel running around the entire clamp arrangement for collecting of rainwater is formed.

The trough-like insulating body b can be provided on its inner surface with a coating consisting of paint or the like in order to prevent the oil from creeping.

The stiffening body could also be arranged in the trough-like insulating body so that it rests against the inner surfaces of this insulating body. The stiffening body could also be embedded as an insert in the trough-like insulating body, so that it is surrounded on all sides by insulating material.
