Control device for the transfer of steam from an electrically heated boiler to a steam consumption point.

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Overflow valve switched on. The same consists mainly of a housing 15, a double seat valve M inserted in it, which is controlled by means of the membrane 17. This membrane is loaded from below by the steam pressure prevailing in the electric boiler 1 from above by the spring 18 which is adjustable for a certain operating pressure. Because the valve 16 is designed as a double seat valve, the pressure prevailing downstream of the valve or in the large water chamber 14 can only have a slight influence on the position of the valve 16 during operation.
If the overflow valve is set, for example, for an operating voltage of 10 kg cm2, it has the effect that this operating pressure is maintained in the electric boiler, even if there is initially only a very low pressure in the large boiler 14 and changes, for example by counteracting the amount 10 kg cm2 increases. In this way it is possible to achieve almost constant steam generation in the electric boiler and thus constant power consumption, even if the back pressure prevailing in the large boiler 14 changes within wide limits.
If, according to FIG. 2, a manually adjustable throttle valve is installed between the electric boiler 1 and the overflow valve 75, it can thereby be achieved that a certain pressure gradient prevails between the interior of the boiler 1 and the inlet chamber of the valve housing 15, while at the same time the throttle valve 21 a certain

cause only a certain weight of steam to flow through the unit of time If the valve 21 is closed a little more, for example, then on the one hand the pressure gradient is increased, on the other hand the flow cross-section is reduced, and this has the consequence that the flow rate decreases. In the new position it therefore takes more time to fill the large water boiler than if the valve 21 were set to the previous larger opening.
In this way it can be ensured that the filling of the large boiler takes place either within a few hours or that, for example, the whole night is required for this. Instead of the valve which can be adjusted by means of handwheels 22, for example, in FIG. 2, any other manually adjustable throttle device can of course be used.
3 shows how the throttle valve 31 serving as a flow regulator is adjusted by means of a gear drive 32 from a small electric motor 34 and the worm gear 35. The own setting of the motor 34 is made dependent, in a manner known per se, on the amount of electrical energy available in the power supply system, and for this purpose the motor 34 is controlled by special devices not shown in the drawing. For example, if the amount of energy available increases, the motor 34 will be so in for a short time

the boiler automatically adjusts itself to greater evaporation and so its output can be adapted to the greater energy available in the power grid.
