B. von Naphtalinsulfosäure gemäss Anmeldung A 5003-18 erhältlichen Kondensationsprodukte, verfährt man ähnlich.

Process for the preparation of lightly soluble tanning preparations.
It is known that many natural tannins and tannin extracts dissolve only with difficulty or incompletely in cold water, which makes the work of the tanner more difficult and the utilization of the tannins is impaired.
It has now been found that the sparingly soluble parts of the tannins also become easily soluble in cold water if they are sulfonic acids of at least trieyelic-lightly aromatic hydrocarbons, as they are contained in the higher fractions of coal tar, or those obtained from aromatic sulfonic acids by heating Condensation products or the condensation products obtainable from the sulfonic acids of aromatic hydrocarbons with formaldehyde are added.
It is only necessary to add the substances just mentioned or their salts cold or warm to the tannin extracts or tanning broths. Products are then immediately obtained which are clearly soluble in cold water at every dilution.
It is advantageous to add the substances during the extraction of the tannins from tanning woods, etc.
The extraction is accelerated and the yield is improved.
Example:
100 parts of quebracho extract of about 25 degrees Be are mixed with 15 parts of the sodium salt of the condensation product of naphthalene sulfonic acid and formaldehyde, which is dissolved in 20 parts of water and stirred. The mass quickly becomes thin and dissolves clearly in water in every dilution.
The condensation product is prepared by heating 100 parts of naphthalene with 100 parts of fuming sulfuric acid to about 1300 for a few hours, then adding 30 parts of 40% formaldehyde with cooling and heating to 1000 for a further 1-2 hours.
When using the other solvents listed above, such as. B. sulfonic acids of anthracene, phenanthrene, carbazole or mixtures or crude products of the aforementioned compounds as well as by heating sulfonic acids, for. B. of naphthalene sulfonic acid according to application A 5003-18 available condensation products, the procedure is similar. The same effect as with quebracho extract is achieved with other tannin extracts, mangroves, etc.
