Terminal cable lug for electrical lines.
The invention relates to a clamping cable lug which consists of a slotted sleeve, the slot edges of which are designed in the shape of a dovetail to accommodate a likewise dovetail-shaped clamp. To secure the clamping connection between the sleeve and the ferrule, either the slot edges on the sleeve or the strips of the ferrule or all of these parts are designed to run in a wedge shape.
Fig. 1 of the drawing shows an embodiment of the cable lug in a view and FIG. 2 in section. The cable lug body consists of the slotted sleeve a, which merges into a connection tab b of the usual type. The slot edges c and d of the sleeve a are bent outwards in such a way that together they result in a dovetail-shaped guide for a dovetail-shaped hollowed out clamp e. In order to be able to achieve a strong, not self-releasing compression of the slotted sleeve a with the aid of the clamp e, at least one of the interacting clamping parts is designed in a wedge shape. In the example, as FIG. 1 shows, both the slot edges c and d are set at an acute angle to one another and also the clamping strips fund g of the clamp e.
In the case of smaller designs for a small conductor cross-section, it is sufficient if only one of the parts is wedge-shaped, i.e. either the slot edges c and d or the strips and and g of the clamp e.
In use, the slotted sleeve a is pushed onto the end of the line and then the ferrule e
EMI1.1
This pulls the sleeve together and presses it firmly onto the end of the conductor along its entire inner surface. Any changes in shape of the clamp e so pressed on, z. B. by bending an end tab attached at h or by hammering a notch along the bar f or g, the clamp can still be secured in its position. One could also arrange a tab at the upper end of the clamp e, which corresponds to the tab b and comes into congruence with it in the clamped position of the clamp and is thus pressed tightly through the usual connecting tube.
The clamping cable lug can be pressed from sheet metal for small conductor cross-sections and cast for larger cables. Compared to the previously known clamping cable lugs, which are based on screw action or the use of a clamping ring, it has the advantage that it is easy to manufacture and use, that it is no larger than the old soldering cable lugs and that its clamping effect is due to the wedge effect between the slot edges and the postponed clamp is very reliable.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Clamping cable lug for electrical lines, characterized in that the slot edges of the longitudinally slotted cable lug sleeve are shaped to form a dovetail guide and are connected so that they can be clamped by a pushed-on, dovetail-shaped clamp under wedge action.
