Fig. 6 ist ein Schnitt nach Linie 6-6 in
Fig. 5 von links gesehen.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1

Device for conveying the liquid fuel for internal combustion engines.

It is known to promote the liquid fuel for internal combustion engines a
To use a piston pump, the delivery rate is greater than the machine consumes fuel, and the excess fuel in a connected to the pressure side of the pump and with a
Air cushion-equipped room, from which it flows back through a valve to the suction side of the pump when a certain pressure is exceeded. It is also known to the fuel before
To preheat entry into the working cylinder so that it is better gasified. Finally, it is also known to use a diaphragm pump to convey the fuel, the working space of which is connected to the working space of the machine.

The invention consists in a particularly advantageous combination of these measures. According to the invention, a heated pump, u. or preferably a membrane pump, whose working space is connected to that of the machine. This pump sucks more
Fuel than is required to feed the machine and presses the excess fuel into a chamber equipped with an air cushion and located inside the pump housing, from which it flows back through a valve to the suction side when a certain pressure is exceeded.

In this way, a simple drive of the pump is achieved, sufficient conveyance of the fuel even when the machine is under heavy loads and a high level of preheating of the latter, etc. between on the one hand as a result of the heating of the pump, on the other hand as a result of the circulation of the fuel within the pump.

Three exemplary embodiments of the diaphragm pump are shown in the drawings. 1 and 2 show the first embodiment in two mutually perpendicular sections. Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the second embodiment. Fig. 4 is a section along line 4-4 in Fig. 3 seen from the left.

Fig. 5 is a vertical section through the third embodiment. Fig. 6 is a section on line 6-6 in
Fig. 5 seen from the left.

In the first embodiment (FIGS. 1, 2) the housing A is divided into the actual conveying space D and a chamber E by the walls B, C. The liquid to be conveyed enters the conveying chamber D through the nozzle D1 and the suction valve F. The outlet from the conveying space D into the chamber B takes place through the pressure valve G. The lower part of the chamber E contains an outlet nozzle and the upper part contains an air cushion Ex 2. The chamber E and the conveying space D are through a circulation valve P. connected, which opens automatically when a certain pressure is exceeded in the former.

The membrane H is clamped between the end wall A1 of the housing A and the cover J.

The end wall Al contains in the middle a circular opening for the passage of a helical spring K, which is on the one hand against the rear wall A2 of the housing A and on the other hand against the head of a

 the membrane H pressed.

. The cover J contains a tubular extension Jl on which a hood M is placed. It is connected to the working space of the working cylinder (not shown) by means of the connector M1.

A perforated wall N is clamped between the pipe extension J1 and the hood M, the central tubular part N1 of which is used to guide a valve 0. This slides with its hollow shaft 01 on the pipe R1. A spring Q, which is arranged between the wall N and a valve 0, seeks to urge the latter towards the diaphragm H. The inwardly protruding flange J2 of deck J serves as the seat for the Venti 0.

 EMI2.1
Speed is running, in which case valve 0 does not need to be present.

The alternating pressure and negative pressure occurring in the working chamber of the working cylinder causes the membrane H to vibrate at the same time as the machine piston, so that liquid is released with every suction stroke, i.e. H. with each oscillation of the membrane to the left (FIG. 1), sucked through the connection D 'and the suction valve F into the delivery chamber D and with each pressure stroke of the membrane, i.e. H. when it oscillates to the right (Fig. 1), is conveyed through the pressure valve G from the conveying space D into the chamber E.

The exit from the latter does not occur in bursts due to the air cushion jE, but in a uniform jet. If the pressure in the chamber E exceeds a certain limit, the circulation valve P opens and the pump then works to a certain extent empty, i.e. does not increase the pressure in the chamber E any further.

Since the pump is connected to the working space of the machine cylinder, it is heated during operation, so that the temperature of the liquid to be pumped also increases, which makes it easier to gasify.

If the speed of the machine exceeds a certain limit, the diaphragm would still be able to oscillate on its own at the same time as the working piston. The liquid to be pumped and the suction and pressure valves F, G would not be able to follow at the same time. In order to overcome this difficulty, the check valve 0 should be provided at higher machine speeds. This always opens when there is negative pressure, whereas when there is pressure it works together with the membrane H in such a way that it can only close after it has covered part of its pressure stroke. As a result, not every pressure occurring in the working space of the machine cylinder has an effect on the diaphragm H and it can, to a certain extent, carry out its work in peace.

In the second and third embodiment (FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, 6), a hollow body Q is provided in the cavity which is formed by the side wall A, the end wall Al and the rear wall of the housing is cast in one piece. It contains a horizontal and a vertical channel Q \ <, which are connected to one another. The channel Q is open towards the membrane and receives the spring K pressing on it. The channel <y adjoins the inlet connection D1 at the bottom and opens into the cavity of the pump housing at the top. It contains below or above the channel <the suction valve F or the pressure valve G.

The seats of the suction and pressure valves F, G are designed as pipe sockets G1, F which are screwed into the channel.

In the second embodiment (Fig. 3, 4) the hollow body Q has a second horizontal channel Q3, which is located below the suction valve F and is in communication with the vertical channel Q2 and the cavity of the pump housing and contains the circulation valve P. The latter is kept closed by a spring pl, which is wound around a bolt S. The bolt and the spring are in a transverse hole in the pipe socket F1. The bolt S is screwed into the housing A and its outer end is covered by a screw cap S1.

In the third embodiment (Fig. 5,6) the horizontal channel Ql of the hollow body Q is on the side facing away from the membrane in connection with the cavity of the pump housing A and contains the circulation valve P, whose spring pl lies against a pierced pin S2. The latter is screwed into a tube B3, which in turn is screwed into the wall of the horizontal channel on the side opposite the membrane H. The end of the tube S3 drawn on the right in FIG. 4 contains a filter screen B4.

As already described in the first embodiment, in the second and third embodiment the pressure and negative pressure alternately occurring in the working space of the working cylinder (not shown) set the diaphragm H in vibrations at the same time as the working piston. With each suction stroke, i. H. With each oscillation of the membrane to the left (Fig. 4, 6), fuel is sucked into the horizontal channel Q1 through the inlet connection D1 and the suction valve F. With each pressure stroke, i. H. each time the diaphragm oscillates to the right, fuel is pumped through the pressure valve G from the horizontal channel Q2 into the cavity of the housing. If the pressure in the latter exceeds a certain limit, the circulation valve P opens. The pump then works empty and thus does not increase the pressure in the cavity of the pump housing any further.

The outermost edge of the membrane is clamped between the end wall A1 and the cover J of the housing and does not rest against the former in the rest position.

The connection of the diaphragm pump to the working space of the working cylinder (not shown) takes place according to FIGS. 3 and 4 through an angled connection M2, which is screwed into the pipe socket J1 of the cover J. The inner end of the elbow M2 carries a baffle M3; from the horizontal part of the bore M4 of the angled connection side bores M5 go off, so that the hot combustion gases from the working space of the cylinder do not hit the membrane H directly, but are deflected to the side beforehand. The angle connector M2 is also to be provided in the third embodiment and is not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 for the sake of simplicity.

In the second embodiment (FIGS. 3, 4), a check valve T and two filter sieves U, which are expediently designed in the form of a hat, are also arranged in front of the inlet connection D ′. The

not to allow it to flow back into the supply line. The filter screens U, like the filter screen 84 (FIG. 6), serve to hold back any impurities in the fuel. The check valve T and the filter sieves U were expediently also provided in the first and third embodiment and are only not shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 5, 6 for the sake of simplicity.
