Device for destroying excess pressurized water energy.

For the harmless and calm destruction of excess pressurized water energy, according to the present invention, the pressurized water in the form of two completely or approximately equally strong and opposite jets is directed into a basin in which the energy is destroyed by vortexing.

The drawing shows schematically an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The pressurized water supplied through line a is first fed into the two symmetrically identical pipe sections b
 EMI1.1
after the destruction of energy flows away. The rays d and e are directed opposite to each other.

Compared to known embodiments of energy dissipation, the present invention has the advantage that the water exits through two or a small number of opposing openings which have a relatively large cross-section so that blockages due to foreign bodies and ice are not to be feared. Furthermore, as experiments have shown, the energy is destroyed in these two large, colliding beams within a relatively small space, so that one can manage with a relatively small vessel. Compared to energy destroyers with only one jet, there is the advantage that the vessel wall is not hit at any point by the unbroken water velocity, so that there is no risk of seizing.

Instead of two rays, several can be used that collide at one point. However, a considerable increase in the number of individual jets is not advisable because the exit openings for the jets become too small, so that there is a risk of blockages. The invention is based precisely on the knowledge that excellent energy destruction can be achieved even with a very small number of correspondingly large water jets. It is only important that the forces (secondary mass times speed), which correspond to the amounts of water emerging from the mouths, are exactly or approximately in balance.
