Device for electrical heating by itself forming the heating resistor
Liquids.

The object of the present invention is used for the electrical heating of liquids which themselves form the heating resistor, for. B. for the electrical heating of steam boilers. In particular, the invention uses the known arrangement of cylindrical insulation bodies equipped with passage slots between the two electrodes, which arrangement makes it possible to achieve the high resistances required for high voltages even with lower powers, without the high resistances otherwise to be accepted at high voltages To have to arrange large distance between the electrodes, which causes structural difficulties. With such an arrangement, the invention seeks to solve the problem of regulating the length of the current path, correspondingly large differences in voltage, in a simple manner.

In the drawing, a represents the high-voltage electrode. The same stands in a bottomed, thin-walled, cylindrical vessel made of insulation material b, which is on one side
 EMI1.1

The diameters of all these cylindrical vessels are dimensioned in such a way that a water column of hollow cylindrical shape remains between two bodies. If you turn the slots, the individual liquid cylinders are connected in series. In the floor plan, the dash-dotted line indicates the path of the electrical current from the inner cylinder to the boiler shell. If the liquid cylinder is given the same transverse direction along the entire current path by appropriate dimensioning of the insulation body! cut, the voltage is distributed evenly ati the entire length of the current path. This arrangement allows high voltages to be overcome and high resistances to be achieved with small spatial dimensions.

There is no voltage gradient at the electrodes themselves and thus no energy dissipation either, since the liquid cross-section is considerably larger here than between two insulating bodies.

According to the invention, regulation can now take place in that one of the insulating bodies, e.g. B. the body e, is twisted. As a result, the length of the current path is shortened to a minimum value, which is reached at 1800 rotation, with a straight path in the radial direction to the outer electrode is then released through the overlapping slots n b, c and d.
