Es ist bis jetzt kein Verfahren bekannt geworden, welches die gleichzeitige Abtötung von Bakterien und Ungeziefer in einem Arbeitsgang. d. h. durch einmalige Behandlung des in Betracht kommenden Raumes ermöglicht, man musste vielmehr bisher zur Erreichung des erstrebten Zweckes stets die in Betracht

erzielen kann, wenn man Formaldehyd und Zyanwasserstoff oder dessen Derivate. z. B. Azetonnitril oder Mischungen der in Betracht kommenden Zyanverbindung bei gewöhnlichem oder verminderten Druck gleichzeitig anwendet.
In Ausübung des Verfahrens werden die bei der Blausäureräucherung bzw. der Formaldehyd- vergasung, üblichen Methoden angewendet, mit der Massgabe, dass der von Bakterien und Ungeziefer zu befreiende Raum mit beiden Gasen gleichzeitig behandelt wird. Um Gefahren auszuschalten. führt man vorteilhafterweise noch geeignete Riechstoffe z. B. Chlorkohlensäureester, welche dem Gernchsinn als Warnung dienen sollen, in den zn behandelnden Raum ein.
