   Zur Entfärbung und Klärung von Flüssigkeiten, wie Fetten, Ölen, Zuckerlösungen u.dgl., verwendet man verschiedene Kohlenarten, Russ, kalzinierten Russ, besondere Entfärbungskohlen, die unter den   Namen Carboraffin. Norit.   Eponit u. dgl, bekannt sind, welche Stoffe durch besondere Behandlung wirksam gemacht werden. 



   Es wurde nun gefunden, dass sich für die angegebenen Zwecke ein Russ ganz besonders eignet. der bei der unvollständigen   Verbrennung von Erdgasen, hauptsächlich von Methan,   entsteht und mit Carbon-black bezeichnet wird, vorausgesetzt, dass dieser Carbon-black. wenn er nicht bereits bei der Erzen-
