EMI1.1

EMI1.1
There are already devices in which the instantaneous value of a physical or chemical quantity is transmitted with the aid of electrical impulses, the point in time of which in the course of a measuring interval depends on the respective value of the measured quantity. At the receiving station, these current pulses work together with a periodically moving part in such a way that at the moment of the current pulse the position taken by this part is registered.
The invention relates to such devices, without restricting the use of electrical impulses, and aims at a special design of the receiver, by means of which an accurate display or setting is achieved by means of a part which remains normally at rest.
According to the invention, an auxiliary value that changes in the course of the measurement interval (such as a periodically moving part, a periodically changing auxiliary force) is used at the receiving point, which interacts with the auxiliary energy pulse coming from the transmitter in such a way that it Impulse the transmission of the auxiliary value present at the time of the impulse to the receiving part is initiated
In the drawing, a device for remote display and remote registration of the flow rate of an agent is shown schematically as an embodiment of the invention.
At the transmission point S, the measured medium, such as steam, water or the like, flows through a tube 150 with a throttle point 152. The pressure difference at the throttle point acts through lines 154 on communicating vessels 156 and 158 and presses mercury out of the vessel 156 into the vessel 158 provided with elastic line connections 160. The latter hangs with the aid of a pull rod 162 on a lever 164, the other arm of which, loaded with a weight 168, plays between two stops 166. The weight 168 compensates for the dead weight of the vessel 158 including the supply lines 160, the pull rod 162 and part of the mercury in the vessel 158.
The excess weight of the mercury in the vessel 158 is counteracted by a tension spring 172, the force of which is periodically changed by a rod 174 moving up and down in a guide 176. The movement of the rod 174 takes place with the assistance of a spring 178 by a cam 182 which acts on a sliding roller 180 of the rod 174 and which is driven by a synchronous motor 186 through the intermediary of a gear ratio 184. The free end of the lever 164 is connected to one wire of an electrical line and protrudes over a circuit breaker 170, the upper contact of which is connected to one of the grinding brushes 192 of a circuit breaker 188, 190 driven by the motor 186. The other grinding brush is connected to the other wire of the electrical line.
In the circuit of the electrical line there is a current source 148 and an electromagnet 144 at the receiving point E. The device described up to now does not form the subject of the invention.
At the receiving station E, a motor 2 running synchronously with the motor 186 of the transmitting station S with the intermediation of a gear ratio 4, a non-circular disc 6 and an arm 10 loaded by a spring 12, at its end a sliding roller 8 for the non-circular disc 6 an axis 14 pivoted back and forth periodically. On the axis 14 arms 16 are attached, u. One arm 16 for each apparatus to be driven, so that the common drive motor 2 can drive a number of receiving apparatuses, possibly intended for different measured quantities. Only one such receiver is shown in the drawing.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A back and forth pivoting of the arm 16 corresponds to a measuring interval. d. i. an item rotation of the cam 182 of the transmitting station S.
The oscillating movement of the arm 16 is controlled by a link 20 engaging in the same by means of a pin 18, on the one hand, through an arm, and an axle 24 mounted in bearings 26 on an arm 116 and a clamping pawl 120 connected to it by a joint 118, and on the other hand transferred to a lever 28 pivotable in a bearing 30. An upwardly directed arm 40 of the lever 28 is flexibly connected to arms 42, 50 by means of a part 34 provided with arms 36, 38 and two tensioned springs 44, 46.
The arms 42, 50 sit on an axle with the aid of a hub 48. 38, on which a brake wing 68 is still attached by a hub. The axle 32 is supported between bearings 30 and 104. The arm 50 is by a further, the organs described similar and from parts-M ,. M and springs 58, 60 existing member connected to an arm 56, which is fastened together with a second brake wing 66 and an arm 64 on a hub 62 which sits loosely on the axis 32.
The axis 74 of a pointer 76, 78, 82 which indicates the measured and transmitted value, plays on a scale 84 and at the same time records a diagram 94 by means of a pen 86 on a progressively moving paper tape 92, has an arm 72 which is supported by one or two springs 70 the arm 64 is connected. The axle 74 is mounted between the bearings 104, 106. The pointer 76 therefore follows the jerky movement of the hub 68 only gradually. For this purpose, damping in the form of a conaxial groove 90 and an extension 88 of the pointer 76, 82 moving in the same is used.
The groove 90 is filled with oil, glycerine or the like. A weaker spring 98, which is tensioned in an adjustable manner by hand with the aid of a button 102 and an arm 100, is used to adjust the zero position of the pointer 76. Counterweights 80 are used to balance the pointer 76

and the abrasive brushes 192 are connected by the conductive portion 190 of the circuit breaker.
At an earlier or later point in time, depending on the respective value of the flow in the line 450, the force of the spring 172 together with the weight 168 begins to outweigh the load on the vessel 158 and the lever 164 pivots in the clockwise direction. In doing so, it touches the contact 170 with its end and closes the circuit 164, 170, 192, 190, 192, 144, 148, 164, which, however, it immediately interrupts again by taking along and tearing off the resilient part of the contact 170 from its contact screw that only a short current pulse reaches the magnet 144 of the receiving point E.
It is clear that the time of this current pulse in the course of each measurement period, i. i. one revolution of the cam 182, depends on the instantaneous value of the measured flow velocity.
At the receiving point E, the spring 112, which is supported against the tooth 128 of the lever 136, and thus also the spring 110, have been kept out of engagement with the segment 68 and the pointer 76 is held by the segment 66 held by the spring 108 in its last measurement Position secured so that it calmly displays the result of the last measurement on the scale 84 and recorded it on the paper 92. The arm 56 connected to the segment 66 is therefore stationary.
As a result of the movement of the arm 16, the drive motor 2 of which runs synchronously with the motor 186 of the transmission point S, the segment 68 is pivoted and at the same time the springs 58, 60 are tensioned, u. zw. Such that the change in the position of the segment 68 and the force of the springs 58, 60 is in a certain relationship to the change in the force of the spring 172 of the transmission point S. At the moment of the current pulse from the source 148, the position of the segment 68 and the force of the springs 58, 60 are related to the intensity of the flow, e.g. B. the steam in line 150.
The armature 142 is attracted by the current pulse arriving in the electromagnet 144 and the lever 1 @ 36 is pivoted so that the tooth 128 releases the spring 112 and the pin 126 brings the pawl 120 out of the area of the spring 112. The released springs 112, 110 pivot towards the axis 32, the spring 110 pushing against the segment 68 and holding it in its current position. This prevents further rotation of the axle 32, and the further pivoting of the arm 16 only tensions the springs 44, 46 without transferring their force to the axle 32.
The springs 58,60 have one
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>

the force of the springs 58, 60 now acts and rotates it into a certain position, which therefore also depends on the measured flow velocity. This position is transmitted to the pointer 76 by means of the spring 70 and the damping 90, 88 described above. While the segment 66 is rapidly assuming its measurement position, the pointer 76, 82 is slowly brought into its measurement hunt, so that no pendulum movements are visible in the registered diagram 94 which would make it indistinct.
In the meantime, the electromagnet 144 has released the lever 136 again and the latter reverses

releases. When the arm 116 is pivoted with its tooth 122 in front of the spring 112 and when it is pivoted back, it takes the springs 112, 110 with it until the spring 112 snaps into the tooth 128 of the lever 136. The spring 108 goes with the pull rod 114. As a result, segment 66 is determined again and segment 68 is released and the device is made available for the next measurement period.
In the embodiment shown, the position of the segment 68 or the force of the springs 58, 60 represents an auxiliary value which is transmitted to the pointer 76 by the action of the pulse from the transmission point S. In addition to the electrical auxiliary energy of the battery 148, another auxiliary energy, e.g. B. a hydraulic fluid, compressed gas, light or other radiation energy, radio waves or other can be considered. Any auxiliary value, e.g. B. an electromagnetic force or other can be applied. It is essential for the invention that a periodically changed auxiliary value 5 between a part 144 responding to the pulses of the auxiliary energy 148 and the pointer 76 or the like.
S, 60 or 68 switched on and its instantaneous value at the time of the impulse (through the lever 164 and the contact 170 of the transmission point S) is transferred to the pointer 76 or the like. Instead of the pointer 76, another part, e.g. B. a part to be set according to the measured size, such as a control part or the like. The invention can be used for all physical or chemical variables (e.g. in gas analyzers) in which an auxiliary energy pulse can be produced that changes its point in time according to the instantaneous value of the variable.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Device for the transmission of values of physical or chemical quantities, the instantaneous value of which is indicated by the time of a pulse of auxiliary energy (e.g. an electrical current surge) in the course of a measurement interval, characterized in that an auxiliary value which changes in the course of the measurement interval (Position of a part 68, or an auxiliary force 58, 60 or the like) is caused by the pulse of the auxiliary energy to transfer its current value to the part (pointer 76 or the like) acting according to the transferred value.
