Description

 EMI1.1

 EMI1.3
Chrom, 1-73% Wolfram, 0-34% Silizium, Rest Eisen.

   PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :

 EMI1.1

The subject of the present invention is a steel alloy for a particular application which requires several specific properties at the same time; The characteristics of this steel alloy consist in the restricted weight intervals of the additives, which are already known within broad limits for other areas of application.

For example, for certain purposes, such as stud drills, taps, calibers, etc., a steel is required that changes its length as little and as uniformly as possible through hardening and on which pure threads can be produced in the unhardened state, even with high cutting angles .
 EMI1.2
The former and the low-alloy chrome steels meet the requirement of a small and even change in length during hardening, but have the disadvantage that they result in impure threads at high cutting speeds and also have a narrow hardening temperature interval.

The high-alloy chrome steels, on the other hand, can be cut clean at high speed and behave well with regard to changes in dimensions during hardening. However, a disadvantage of the latter steels is that they are very brittle and very expensive.

The invention now relates to a manganese-chromium-tungsten steel alloy which combines all three required properties by]. when hardening their length changes less and more evenly than the already known steels,
2. Can be processed cleanly at increased speed and
3. Despite good cutting properties, it is tougher in both the annealed and hardened condition than the other steel alloys mentioned above.

In addition, this steel has the advantage of a wide hardening temperature range.
 EMI1.3
Chromium, 1-73% tungsten, 0-34% silicon, the remainder iron.
