Description

 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

The invention relates to a four-stroke internal combustion engine with a crankcase pump and a piston controlling the cylinder inlets and outlets, and aims to enable the four-stroke mode of operation using only a single controlled valve.

The drawing shows the machine schematically in section with different piston lengths.

If the piston K moves upwards in the cylinder E (FIG. 1), the gas mixture is sucked into the crankcase D through the intake port A and the channel C due to the negative pressure that is created in the crankcase.

Valve B is open during piston J upward travel. It is controlled by the N cam. As a result of the gear ratio of the gears R1 and R2 (1: 2), the cam makes half as many revolutions as the crankshaft.

When piston K has reached top dead center, valve B is closed (Fig. Dz. When the piston moves downwards, the mixture in the crankcase is compressed. Shortly before bottom dead center, the piston opens a slot in the cylinder and the mixture flows from Crankcase through the overflow channel C * into the cylinder, valve B being closed (Fig. 3).

When going up. the piston compresses the mixture in the cylinder. When the piston has reached top dead center, the mixture is caused to explode by a spark from the spark plug Z (FIG. 4). This drives the piston down (working stroke). Before the piston reaches its lowest position, it clears a slot in the cylinder wall and the combustion gases escape through channel F (Fig. 5). This is followed by suction in the crankcase again, with valve B open (Fig. 1), etc.

The closing and opening of the slots is done by piston K. - As a result of the controlled valve, the machine can only suck after every second rotation.
