Abstract

Laminar body containing an iron or cobalt base alloy containing from 0.10 to 5.5% by weight, in particular from 0.8 to 1.2% by weight, of carbon, containing at least one metallic alloy layer which at least partly covers, preferably on the work surfaces, the iron or cobalt base alloy and has a thickness of from about 0.1 mm to about 6.0 mm, in particular from about 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm, which metallic alloy layer has, apart from the alloying elements of the base alloy, at least one higher content of an element, in particular carbon, characterized in that the alloy layer contains from 0.5 to 20.0% by weight, in particular from 0.8 to 8.5% by weight, of carbon and at least one of the following elements: from 0.5 to 70.0% by weight, in particular from 5.0 to 35.0% by weight, of vanadium, from 0.5 to 85.0% by weight, in particular from 10.0 to 40.0% by weight, of molybdenum, from 0.5 to 85.0% by weight, in particular from 10.0 to 40.0% by weight, of tungsten, from 0.5 to 80.0% by weight, in particular from 15.0 to 45.0% by weight, of chromium, from 0.5 to 70.0% by weight, in particular from 3 to 25.0% by weight, of titanium, from 0.5 to 80.0% by weight, in particular from 3.0 to 30.0% by weight, of niobium, hafnium, tantallum and/or zirconium, where the carbides are predominantly present in the form of MC, M2C, M23C6, M6C and/or M7C3 as primary carbides having a mean grain size of from 0.2 μm to 10.0 μm in the remaining eutectic and/or as primary carbides in eutectic cells having a mean grain size of from 1.0 μm to 30.0 μm and/or as isolated primary carbides having a mean grain size of from 0.8 μm to 0.5 mm, and in that, if desired, the carbon in the alloy layer is at least partially replaced by boron and this layer contains from 0.1 to 25.0% by weight, in particular from 1.0 to 15.0% by weight, of boron, where the boron is present in the form of borides, carboborides, boronitrides and/or carboboronitrides, and in that, if desired, the carbon in the alloy layer is at least partially replaced by nitrogen and this layer contains from 0.1 to 15.0% by weight, in particular from 0.5 to 2.0% by weight, of nitrogen, where the nitrogen is present in the form of nitrides, carbonitrides, boronitrides and/or carboboronitrides.
