Abstract

The tank (1) is closed by a pivotable cover (2, 3), which is pivoted by means of a hollow shaft (7). The cover (2, 3) rests on the tank rim (5) by means of a bearing section (4). The bearing section (4) is adjoined by a plate section (12), which together with the tank inner wall section (11) forms a narrow gap (13). By the labyrinth seal thus formed, a resistance is provided against flowing out of the gases and/or vapours produced in the tank (1). The amount flowing out is extracted through the intermediate space (9) and the inner space (8) of the hollow shaft (7). Consequently, the amount of exhaust air is considerably reduced, no gases and/or vapours being extracted from the inner space of the tank (1). This reduces the power demand of a given installation and also the dimensions of the equipment necessary for extracting and supplying the air. <IMAGE>
