Abstract

The electrostatic precipitator 1 has magnets 19 which are used to centre and clamp the corona-discharge electrodes 6 and/or the precipitation electrodes in a way which facilitates cleaning, installation and removal. By alternately exciting and de-exciting installed electromagnets 29; 41,42; 52,53 in a controlled manner, the suspended electrodes 27; 33,35 can be caused to oscillate and can consequently be conveniently and effectively cleaned. <IMAGE>
