Method for dewatering of a lot of laundry (8) in a device having a movable press pin (1) being supported on a pressure tank (3) by means of a stop (6) and pushing said pressure tank over a fixed press table (2) vertically to its support plane, having an elastic support (4) to be loaded by a pressure medium without a pressure-medium source, characterized by that a) in a first pressing sequence, the press pin (1) enters into the pressure tank (3) held in its original position by means of spring action up to the stop (6) arranged in the upper range of the press pin (1), whereupon b) in a second pressing sequence, the press pin (1) pushes the pressure tank (3) being open at its bottom over the press table (2) by means of the stop (6).
