Abstract

Profile locking cylinders in mortise dead locks are provided with a cylinder housing (1) and a cylinder core (2) mounted rotationally adjustably therein and able to be secured against unauthorised turning by key-actuable tumbler elements and by an additional blocking element (5) actuable by means of an electromagnet (11) installed in the cylinder housing (1) and being subjected to the action of a restoring spring (6). To be able to further simplify this locking cylinder structurally and readily actuate it in the event of any failure of the power supply to its electromagnet by means of its conventional fitting key or to be able to unblock its cylinder core, the blocking element (5) is to be brought into its blocking position securing the cylinder core (2) against rotation by current flow through the electromagnet (11) and is to be held in this position, whereas when current is not flowing through the electromagnet (11) the blocking element is to be brought into the release position by the restoring spring (9) of said electromagnet (11). <IMAGE>
