Abstract

The invention relates to an automatable pyrolytic self-cleaning process, arranged on a wall region, for ovens whose muffle can be operated by means of at least one heating element and, if appropriate, by additional circulating-air heating, where the muffle can be ventilated by a circulating-air fan and is fitted with means for pyrolytic self-cleaning, characterised in that in the cooking space a sensor system detecting dirt values caused by operating the baking oven is arranged, that an evaluation unit connected on the input side to the dirt sensor initiates or recommends the start of pyrolysis, that a gas sensor, connected to the evaluation unit, is arranged in the exit air path of the muffle, that the evaluation unit analyses the sensor signals by means of a logic system adapted to the pyrolysis operation, that the evaluation unit determines, from the sensor signals after a typical pyrolysis running period, a minimum pyrolysis temperature depending on the type of dirt, and an optimised total pyrolysis time, and that the evaluation unit terminates the pyrolytic self-cleaning process after a total pyrolysis time depending on the type of dirt. <IMAGE>
