Abstract
A special problem when displaying transmitted colour television pictures is the blurring of the colour transitions. The reason for this is the necessary narrow bandwidth with the interleaved transmission of the luminance signal and of the chrominance signals. To improve the colour contours, a method is presented which detects the turn-over point of a signal transition and thus the accurate position of an edge of the chrominance signal. The originally appearing edge of the chrominance signal is replaced by a steepened edge which has the same position. The steepness of the original signal transition has no influence on the group delay of the system. In addition, a television set for carrying out the method is presented. <IMAGE>
