Abstract
According to the invention, the aim is achieved by drilling steel pins (2) into the existing arch (1) at a previously calculated grid spacing, a steel reinforcement (3), e.g. reinforcement mats, subsequently being attached to these pins (2), and, by drawing in a steel pipe (4), the shape of which is adapted to the arch and which has on all sides a spacing of 5 to 10 cm from the intrados of the arch, both a steel shell for a reinforced concrete shell to be introduced and a steel arch shell for the earth masses in the slope region being produced. The bridge reinforcement can be used particularly advantageously in the renovation, in increasing the carrying capacity and widening roadways of passages which are bridged by existing arches made of brick or natural stone masonry, it being possible to keep the traffic running. <IMAGE>
