Abstract

A wine glass, for example, is placed beneath a dispensing unit (2) attached to the neck of a bottle. The unit can be in the form of an electromagnetically operated valve. The glass is located symmetrically under the dispenser and there are three ultrasonic sensors (5, 6) located at 120 degree intervals around the periphery. The signals from the ultrasonic device are reflected back and outputs provided as inputs to a control unit that actuates the dispenser when correct location is signalled.
