Abstract

A running gear with running wheels is disclosed for the top end of both uprights of a simple ladder that form forward-facing bearing points on wall surfaces. Compared with the prior art, the running wheels (5, 5') have additional, diametrically opposed bearing points (9, 9') for corners that when used for outer corners (20) face inwards and when used for inner corners face outwards. The running wheels (5, 5') are preferably designed as elastic bodies. The new ladder above all allows telescopic ladders to be drawn out and set against a straight wall or edges and offers a safety that was hitherto impossible to achieve, in particular when the ladder was set against wall corners. Also disclosed is a ladder head to be mounted on a ladder and selectively provided with immovable bearing surfaces or running wheels. Both solutions have forward-facing bearing points for flat wall surfaces and diametrically opposed bearing points for outer and inner corners. The user may choose between both setting up modes according to his requirements.
