Abstract

The side walls of a "knock down" drawer are each composed of two interfitting components, each first component 7 being of downwardly-open channel section with a smooth external surface, at or adjacent the lower edge of the inside reach of which is a continuous longitudinal groove 4 for receiving the drawer bottom, and with vertically-spaced inwardly-directed tenons 2 at its rear end for reception into hollows in the rearwall; and each second component 8 being a moulded beam the upper surface 23 of which are longitudinally-spaced and transversely-disposed upright ribs 9 dimensioned to fit complementarily in the cross-section of the channel 30 of the associated first component 7, the beam also defining a longitudinal groove 13 for the insertion of drawer guide rail means, and the lower inside edges 24 and 21, respectively, of said moulding 8 and of the inner reach of the associated channel-section first component 7 have mutually-cooperating means 12 and 20, respectively, positively interconnecting said first and second components 7 and 8 when interfitted; and the rear wall being of compartmented vertical section affording at its ends mortises complementing the said tenons and a continuous longitudinal groove 5 for reception of the drawer bottom. <IMAGE>
