Abstract

The card is inserted into a slot (3) and propelled between lower and upper rollers (5, 6) into position for writing by magnetic heads (13) facing each other across the slot. A pair of sensors (pref. audio heads) (14) at the entrance to the slot detect the presence of the magnetic stripe on either the topside or the underside of the card. The write head directed towards the side having no magnetic stripe is switched out by a relay (16) wired to a printed circuit (15). <IMAGE>
