Abstract

Adjustable, electromagnetic, continuous casting, chill mould producing billets whose dimensions are determined by electromagnetic induction. The mould is formed by a pair of fixed side walls and a movable pair of front walls all of which contain induction loops and screens which are fed through flexible conductors. The mould base, of fixed dimensions, is retractable whilst at least one front wall is moved by a drive which is controlled by a position monitor. Also claimed is the method for regulating the dimensions of the billet. <IMAGE>
