Abstract

The filler supplies oil or lubricants to the sump (2) of a combustion engine (1). An oil level sensor (3) detects the oil level in the sump and is connected to a control unit which switches on a pump (7) to supply the engine via a connecting pipe (6) from a storage tank (5). A sensor may be fitted in the engine sump and the storage tank to detect the minimum and maximum oil level and the oil temperature. A control unit can be used to use the pumping time for determining the volume of oil supplied to the engine. A temperature compensation can be applied to allow for different flow rates. A compensation can be made for different engine supply voltages.
