Abstract
The method involves separating a train of carriages (WV) into individual carriage groups (A,B) or carriages (N) according to a separation specification (ZV). The separated train is moved over the apex (GI) of a switching hump (AB) so that groups of carriages or individual carriages roll downwards as separated outputs under gravity and accelerate. The departure speed of at least the leading axle is determined in the region of the hump apex over the section following the separation. A reference exit speed is determined and an emergency response (NS) is triggered if the measured speed exceeds it.
