Abstract

A one-piece dispensing closure 1 comprising a body 2 and a spout 5 pivotable on the body 2 between open and closed positions and connected to the body via a flexible membrane 7 which inverts as the spout 5 moves to its open position. The end of the spout 5 adjacent to the hinge axis 6 is provided with a sealing skirt 52, which seals against a sealing plate 21 defined on the closure body 2. Cam surfaces 22 are provided on the side-wall 4 of the closure body 2 and are arranged such that they interact with the neck of a container 9 to distort the closure in such a way that the spout sealing skirt 52 and body sealing plate 21 are pulled tightly together to form a leakproof seal. <IMAGE>
