Abstract

The device secures the head of a broom (1), mop etc. for use on a floor to a handle (2), having two or more fixing components (3) engaging in recesses in the head. One or more spring clamps (3) engage in further recesses (13) in the head and are held by a tightening device (4). The clamps hinge on an axis parallel to the lengthwise axis of the head. To engage or release the clamps the tightening device (4) slides in the lengthwise direction of the handle. The clamp ends (10) furthest from the head can be tightened by an enclosing casing or sleeve. The fixing devices can be bars, part at least of which run parallel to the lengthwise axis of the head. At the tightening device, the bars can be parallel to the lengthwise axis of the handle and spaced apart.
