Abstract

1. Heat-sensitive recording/transfer material for thermal printers equipped with heat-actuated printing heads, the material comprising a thin carrier-sheet whose back-surface has a heat-meltable transferable coating which can be melted by heat applied to the front surface of the carrier-sheet, the coating containing a pigment, a wax to act as binder and conventional auxillary substances, characterised in that the heat-meltable coating contains a vinylacetate-polyethylene copolymer wax, a modified hydrocarbon wax, or a mixture of the two, with a softening temperature of 95 to 115 degrees C, together with a film-forming thermoplastic binder, the ratio by weight of wax to binder being between 10 to 1 and 30 to 1, to give the coating a melting point of 101 to 110 degrees C.
