Abstract

The track occupation signalling method uses axle counting of a passing train via relatively spaced trackside sensors detecting each train wheel, with the sensor signals evaluated via a processors (VV1,VV2,A1,A3). A track occupation signal is provided for a track section (2) ahead of the train upon detection of the first wheel axle and the passing wheel axles are counted, to provide the track free indication for the preceding track section (1) and to provide a comparison count value for the subsequent track free indication of the following track section.
