Abstract

1. An office chair having a seat carrier (13) arranged on a chair column (12) and having a back-rest (14) arranged on a supporting arm (16) which is adjustable in its inclined position relative to the seat carrier (13) about an axis extending behind the seat carrier, in which respect the adjusting device for the supporting arm (16) has champable plates, and the swivel axis for the supporting arm (16) is formed by a pin (30) which extends through the limb walls (28, 29) of a U-shaped retaining element, characterized in that the retaining element is a joint fork (25) which is formed at the free end, jutting out behind the chair seat (13), of a retaining arm (23) which is rigidly fastenable to the seat carrier (13), and the pin (30) additionally extends through the limb walls (26, 27), which but against the limb walls (28, 29) of the joint fork, of a second U-shaped joint fork (24) formed at one end of the supporting arm (16) for the back-rest (14), in that the plates (32, 33) are coupled torsionally-fast, in known manner, partly with the supporting arm (16) and partly with the retaining arm (23) and are accommodated, aligned parallel to the limb walls (26-29), within the articulation chamber bounded by the limb walls (26-29), and in that all the limb walls (28-29) and plates (32, 33) have additional apertures (inter alia 38) for extension therethrough of a threaded set-bolt (19), onto the end of which is screwed a knob-like tightening nut (20) which act against the outside of a limb wall (26) of the articulation point (15) to draw the U-limb walls (26, 27, 29) and the plates (32, 33) together.
