Abstract

A padlock includes a U-shaped lock casing (200) having a core receiving space (21) that houses a lock core (43), a latch recess (31) that houses a rotatable latch member (40) connected to the lock core (43), and aligned first and second shackle insert holes (35,251). A shackle bar (24) extends into the first and second shackle insert holes (35,251). A catch member (50) is disposed slidably in the latch recess (31), and engages the latch member (40). The catch member (50) has a first end portion (51a) which extends into a slide channel (36) communicating the second shackle inert hole (35) with the latch recess (31), which projects into and engages the shackle bar (24) when the latch member (40) is disposed in the locking position, and which is retracted into the slide channel (36) for disengaging from the shackle bar (24) when the latch member (40) is disposed in the unlocking position. <IMAGE>
