Abstract

1. A method of wrapping a stack of articles with a plurality of convolutions, in particular applied in the form of a coil, af a web of extensible sheeting, which is directed on to the periphery of the stack of articles (12) from a supply roll (7) via a second roll (11) whilst being stretched as a result of retardation of the supply roll (7), wherein the web is driven by the second, driven roll (11) at a peripheral speed which is higher than the average peripheral speed of the stack of articles, characterized in that the rate of stretch of the sheeting between the supply roll (7) and the second roll (11) is not greater than approximatively 100 % per 0.1 sec.
