Abstract

This invention relates to a waterbed mattress (1) comprising a top wall (10) providing a laying surface, a bottom wall (11) providing a support surface and a plurality of side walls (12, 13, 14, 15), which together enclose a central storage volume (2) for receiving water, the top wall (10) being made of an elastic material, the top wall (10) in width direction thereof being divided in a plurality of parts having a different elasticity. The top wall of the mattress is divided (10) in at least three parts (16, 17, 18) in cross direction of the mattress, a first part (16) corresponding to a surface part having an elasticity of between 5-40 %, preferably 15-30 %, for receiving the head and shoulder portion of a person occupying the mattress, the second part (17) being provided for receiving the back and hip zone, the third part (18) corresponding to a surface part for receiving the leg zone having an elasticity of between 5-25 %, preferably 10-20 %, the elasticity being given as a difference between the width of the mattress in the stretched and the non-stretched condition divided by the width of the mattress in the non-stretched condition. <IMAGE>
