Abstract

The method for treating moist waste comprises feeding it via a conveyor screw (16), while it is being heated, into a first combustion chamber (6). The waste is in direct contact with the atmosphere in the chamber when in at least the end section of the screw and undergoes pyrolysis, which is completed in the combustion chamber. Ash produced is subjected to post-combustion in an ash bed (34) with pulsed injection of air. Pyrolysis gas is intensively mixed with flue gases from the combustion of pyrolysis products in a second combustion chamber (7) and also subjected to post-combustion.
