Abstract

1. Apparatus for assisting in the birth of calves, consisting of a rod (1) or the like adapted to bear against the body of the motor animal, of two sleeve-form parts (14, 21) which are mounted on the rod and are adapted to be alternately displaced and made fast, of a tightening lever (10) pivotally connected to one of the sleeve-form parts (21), of an intermediate lever (27) pivotally connected to the other sleeve-form part (14) and to the tightening lever (10), and of holding devides (32, 33a, 33b) secured to the two sleeve-form parts, which holding devices enable the leg slings for the calf to be continuously tensioned in the pulling direction, characterized in that one holding device (32) is provided on one of the sleeve-form parts (21) and two holding devices (33a, 33b) are provided on the other one of the sleeve-form parts (14).
