Abstract

A papermaking assembly has a chilled drum (14) in contact with a paper or carton web (12). A roller (22) enforces contact between the web and drum at the initial point of contact. The roller (22) weight bending profile is the same as that of the chilled drum (14). The roller (22) has a rubber mantle and a profile that is adjusted by external force inputs. The force with which the roller (22) is applied to the chilled drum is adjustable by lever (24) action. Both the roller and the drum are power driven.
