Abstract

1. A method of measuring DC and AC currents without the use of contacts by using an iron core (10) provided with an air gap (11), comprising a field plate (17) through which a control current (lSt ) flows and at least one winding (14) through which a measuring current (lm ) flows, characterised in that, at least one further winding (13), through which a pre-magnetising current (l0 ) flows, is arranged on the iron core (10) wherein the through flow is varied at short time intervals to an accurately defined extent, the actual variations of the field plate voltage thus produced are compared with the desired-variations and any deviations which occur are corrected by varying the control current (lSt ) in the field plate (17) or the pre-magnetising current (l0 ).
