Abstract

1. Six-high roll stand with chocks, which are guided in windows of standards (4), of working rolls (1), intermediate rolls (8) and backing rolls (10, 11) screwable-down with their axes within a common vertical plane by means of screw-down devices supported by the yokes (5) of the standards, in which the barrel lengths of the intermediate rolls exceed those of the backing rolls and wherein the barrel length of the backing rolls (10, 11) is less than the maximum rolled stock width, and wherein both the yokes (5) of the standard each display two separately settable screw-down devices, which are one beside the other in axial roll direction and the inner ones (9, 12) of which support the chocks of the backing rolls and the outer ones of which support those of the intermediate rolls, characterised thereby, that the barrel lengths of the intermediate rolls (3, 6) exceed those of the working rolls (4, 5) and that the screw-down-devices (9, 13) are settable separately and that the control device (Fig. 5) arranged in front of them effects the settings of the same, which on each of the stand sides divides its shared rolling force up in predetermined manner over the screw-down devices (9, 13) associated with the backing rolls (2, 7) as well as those associated with the intermediate rolls (3, 6).
