Abstract

The shut-off device for a flue gas path (9) in a flue gas system of a fireplace has for a shut-off element (3) a reversibly temperature dependently working auxiliary actuating device which has at least one temperature sensitive auxiliary actuating element (7) installed in the flue gas path or close to it. The auxiliary actuating element is set so that with an increase in its temperature in a defined temperature range an especially continuously or discontinuously increasing force opposing the closing force is exerted on the shut-off element. The temperature sensitive auxiliary actuating device may be a bimetal element, and the shut-off element a butterfly valve.
