A railway locomotive has an auxiliary power unit (104) with a fuel system (106) drawing liquid fuel from a first fuel tank (105) to an intermediate fuel reservoir (108). The first fuel tank has a pump (107) that transfers fuel immediately from the tank to the nearby intermediate reservoir.
